Midwifery Services Include

Free Consultation:

You may meet with me before deciding whether or not you want to hire me to ask questions and get to know me a little better.

Prenatal Care :

A checkup every month until you are 7 months pregnant. Then, checkups every two weeks until you are 8 months pregnant. Once you are 8 months pregnant you will have a checkup every week until your baby is born.

Birth:

I will join you at your home as soon as you are in active labor and will remain there with you until about two hours after the birth or longer if needed to be certain mom and baby are stable.

Postpartum:

There will be three postpartum checkups. The first will take place 24 hours after the birth. The second will be about 5 days after the birth. The last will be about 6 weeks after the birth.

Newborn Screening and Registering:

During the second postpartum visit a newborn screening test (pku) will be performed. At that time the documentation for the birth certificate and SS will also be completed.

Fees

To ensure that people at all income levels are able to afford a home birth I charge a sliding scale fee of $1,800 - $2,300. Parents are asked to be honest about what they can afford and are given the liberty to choose what they pay. The minimum a person/couple may pay for a home birth with me is $1,800. For people who can't afford or do not wish to pay cash, I also accept Barter/Trade arrangements (see below).

For cash paying clients I require a deposit of $300 (part of the total fee outlined above) upon commencement of prenatal care (at your first prenatal visit). A minimum payment of $100 must be made at every following checkup, and complete payment must be made by your 36th week of pregnancy.
